From Canvas to Silk

Mantora was born from a desire to give art a new life beyond the canvas. At its heart are the original paintings of Greek artist Maria Syrigou, created in her atelier in Syros, and the idea of her children to transform them into distinctive pieces designed to become part of everyday life. The name Mantora brings together mantili - the Greek word for scarf - and aurora, the first light of dawn. The idea for Mantora began to take shape during those quiet early hours, and the name grew from that moment - bringing together the scarf at the heart of the brand and the feeling of a new beginning.

Every Mantora design begins with an original painting, hand-painted in acrylic on canvas. The artwork is digitised, carefully studied and adapted to each format — selecting, composing and reworking details while preserving the character of the original work. It is then transferred onto 100% Greek silk from Soufli, where colour, movement and texture take on a new form.   Produced in small collections, each piece remains closely connected to the painting it comes from, yet reveals something different every time it is folded, tied or worn.

Our philosophy

Beyond the canvas

We bring original artwork into everyday life, creating pieces that allow art to be worn, styled and experienced in new ways.

A celebration of colour

Colour is at the heart of Mantora. Our scarves come from expressive, richly coloured paintings, preserving their depth, energy and visual richness as they move from canvas to silk.

Original, from the very beginning

Every Mantora design begins with an original, hand-painted acrylic artwork. We do not use ready-made patterns, stock artwork or AI-generated imagery. Every composition originates from a real work of art and is reimagined exclusively for Mantora.

Rooted in Greece

From the paintings created on the island of Syros to the silk from Soufli, Mantora is closely connected to Greek creativity, materials and craftsmanship.

Crafted with care

We create in small collections, choosing quality and thoughtful production over excess. From hand-finished edges and limited quantities to 100% recycled kraft packaging, we aim to make more considered choices and reduce unnecessary waste wherever we can.
